About the position

The New Nurse Residency Program at HCA Florida Largo Hospital is a year-long initiative designed to support recent nursing graduates in their transition from academic settings to professional practice. This program provides hands-on experience, advanced clinical training, and mentorship from experienced nurses, fostering the development of critical thinking and clinical skills necessary for delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers.
• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic responses.
• Notify providers and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and strive to anticipate patient needs.
• Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up measures.
• Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.

Requirements

• Valid RN License or Graduate Nurse in the State.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 1 year of employment.
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
• No previous experience needed.
