About The Position

The StaRN Residency Program at HCA Florida South Shore Hospital is designed for December 2024 RN Graduates, providing a year-long, paid residency that facilitates the transition from student nurse to registered nurse. This program emphasizes hands-on experience, clinical training, and mentorship, ensuring that new nurses develop essential skills in a supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in the State.
  • No previous experience needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Other certifications may be required during employment.
  • Some travel may be needed for training.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers.
  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic responses.
  • Notify providers and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate patient needs proactively.
  • Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up measures.
  • Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
