About the position

The Product Development Manager - Supply Chain at HDT Global is responsible for overseeing the supply chain management (SCM) function for projects from the quoting phase through the First Article Inspection (FAI) stage. This role involves managing supplier relationships, ensuring competitive pricing, and maintaining product costs within established goals. The manager will also develop and implement effective plans to assure material availability and capacity, while actively working to identify new sources of supply and ensuring compliance with the company's sourcing strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the SCM function for the project and BOM from Quote through FAI stage.
  • Scrutinize supplier bids and proposals to ensure competitive costs.
  • Determine expected lead times and develop schedules with critical milestones, providing regular updates.
  • Select and develop sources based on analysis, ensuring the use of current suppliers as per the sourcing strategy.
  • Provide direction regarding print/design review, technical publication, source selection, and price negotiation for new products.
  • Monitor short and long-term material requirements and develop plans to assure material availability.
  • Maintain product costs within established goals for each component and overall BOM.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of computerized manufacturing systems such as SAP, ERP, and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Develop new qualified and cost-effective sources of supply for new services or components.
  • Ensure BOM is loaded correctly into SAP and manage the approval process for new suppliers.
  • Develop and adhere to Small Business Plans and track BOM for each part, publishing monthly reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, or a related field; Master's or MBA preferred.
  • 5-7 years of SCM experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in Aerospace or Defense.
  • 3-4 years of global business experience managing programmatic New Product Development (NPD).
  • Experience in inventory planning, forecasting, and replenishment activities, with metrics development to track performance.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to identify solutions to manufacturing and project issues.
  • Strong organizational, tactical/strategic thinking, and effective communication skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
