About the position

Join a leading team in the engineering, design, and manufacturing of cutting-edge military expeditionary products and rugged industrial/commercial products, a legacy that has been ongoing since 1937. This position is pivotal in managing the Supply Chain Management (SCM) function for projects, overseeing the Bill of Materials (BOM) from the quoting phase through to the First Article Inspection (FAI) stage. The role requires a keen eye for detail and a strategic mindset to ensure that supplier bids and proposals are thoroughly scrutinized to guarantee competitive costs. As a key player in the SCM function, you will be responsible for determining expected lead times and developing schedules that highlight critical milestones. Regular reporting will be essential to ensure that suppliers meet these schedules. You will also be tasked with selecting and developing sources based on thorough analysis, ensuring that the current suppliers align with the sourcing strategy established by the commodity team. Your expertise will guide decisions regarding print/design reviews, technical publications, source selection, and negotiations on price and terms for new products. In this role, you will monitor both short and long-term material requirements, developing and implementing effective plans to assure material availability and capacity at selected suppliers. Maintaining product costs within established goals for each component and the overall BOM is crucial. You will need to possess an in-depth working knowledge of computerized manufacturing systems, including SAP, ERP, Bill of Material structure, Kanban, Just-In-Time (JIT), and Lean Manufacturing concepts. Additionally, you will actively work to develop new qualified and cost-effective sources of supply, particularly when new services, processes, or components are identified. This includes gaining support and buy-in from commodity managers for strategic low-cost country initiatives. Ensuring that each BOM is accurately loaded into SAP and managing the approval process for new suppliers, including Annual Reps & Certs, will also be part of your responsibilities. You will develop a Small Business Plan and ensure adherence to it, as well as create BOM tracking schedules for each part, publishing monthly reports that indicate whether parts are on schedule or at risk regarding delivery and cost.
