About the position

Klein Tools is a dynamic, fast-paced and results-driven company dedicated to launching hundreds of innovative products each year. The New Product Development Manager will play a crucial role in developing and executing product-oriented plans that align with the company's selling tactics, growth strategy, and financial goals. This position is responsible for ensuring the timely execution of product-specific plans, effectively communicating critical information, and supplying market, product, financial, and end-user data analysis to drive business decisions. The role requires continuous development as a product expert by staying in touch with the market and interacting with salespeople, distributors, and end users through various venues. The manager will oversee and review existing product lines, understanding the market and product life cycle, seeking opportunities for product improvement, product line additions, new markets, improved merchandising, promotions, and other growth prospects. Additionally, the New Product Development Manager will manage and execute the new product development phase gate process, which includes product launches, special promotions, forecasting, setting prices, and other necessary activities. The position also involves assisting with the development and creation of marketing content for new and existing products, performing market research, and conducting Voice of Customer (VOC) events to gather firsthand information from customers on product use cases and processes. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Finance, HR, Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, and Sales, is essential for contributing to the continuous improvement of the facility. The manager must effectively communicate and work in both a professional office environment and on construction sites, including giving presentations on new and existing products. Other duties may be required as necessary within the nature and level of work.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously develop as a product expert by staying in touch with the market and interacting with salespeople, distributors, and end users.
  • Manage and review existing product lines, understanding the market and product life cycle, and seeking opportunities for product improvement.
  • Manage and execute the new product development phase gate process, including product launches and special promotions.
  • Assist with developing and creating marketing content for new and existing products.
  • Perform market research, including conducting Voice of Customer (VOC) events to gather firsthand information from customers.
  • Use information gained from VOC and customer interactions to develop new product ideas that align with GMP strategic product focus.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to the continuous improvement of the facility.
  • Effectively communicate and work in a professional office environment and on construction sites, including giving presentations on products.
  • Provide product assistance to other areas of the company as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience in product development or management.
  • Must be a positive team player, willing to help wherever possible and meet deadlines.
  • Must have an entrepreneurial and hands-on mindset.
