About the position

The New Product Manufacturing Engineer (NPME) is responsible for the commercialization of newly designed products and features, transitioning them from initial designs to volume manufacturing operations. This role involves reviewing, evaluating, and modifying engineering designs to enhance manufacturability at both the supplier level and within Applied Materials' manufacturing operations. The NPME is also tasked with creating Engineering Change Orders to implement design enhancements and facilitate manufacturing processes. Proficiency in modeling and drafting software, particularly Unigraphics/NX, is essential, along with knowledge of supplier manufacturing processes to effectively resolve issues.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with Engineering functions to coordinate the release of New Products and product improvements.
  • Own Module/Product on PLC/CIP Program Launches, releasing, approving, and implementing engineering change orders as required.
  • Manage SMBOM Release to support Phase exits.
  • Process Non-Standard requests (BOM) for Systems and NSO.
  • Support New Product documentation by OMS Creation for NPI/CIP Builds.
  • Create and maintain Master layout in UG/NX for New Products.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of products, configurations, Team Center, and Options & Variants.
  • Hands-on experience in creation and maintenance of New Options & providing Variant Conditions.
  • Understand the engineering change order process, DFx principles, product development process, and value engineering.
  • Develop project methodology and/or project proposals.
  • Participate in preparation of concept and feasibility studies.
  • Interface between operations, design engineering & Global Product management to implement feasible solutions.
  • Make recommendations for tooling and process requirements.
  • Use DFx principles to reduce manufacturing costs and improve product quality.
  • Participate in New Product Builds and champion issue resolution.
  • Determine root cause analysis for issues during assembly and/or testing; provide long-term corrective actions.
  • Engage with various teams to transition from NPI operations to Volume Manufacturing.
  • Evaluate work methods, procedures, and policies.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of new business processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline.
  • 4+ years of manufacturing/engineering experience, or equivalent.
  • 5-7 years of previous experience in manufacturing/engineering preferred.
  • Strong skills in product technology, change management, problem solving, communication, customer orientation, personal effectiveness, team skills, and quality.
  • In-depth knowledge of CAD tools (UG-NX & Team Center), SAP BOM & Engineering Change Orders.
  • Additional knowledge of systems and software such as Lotus Notes, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Flowcharting, FRACAS, and/or BRIO.
