About the position

The Coordinator for New Student and Family Programs at Marquette University plays a vital role in enhancing the student experience by overseeing the recruitment, training, and supervision of student staff involved in orientation and family engagement programs. This position is integral to fostering a supportive environment for new students and their families, aligning with the university's Catholic, Jesuit mission and commitment to student development.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements recruitment, selection, and training processes for student paraprofessionals.
  • Recruits, selects, and supervises Graduate Assistant(s), revising position descriptions annually and assigning projects based on program needs.
  • Implements the SPARK, New Student Orientation, and Winter Orientation programs in consultation with various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education Administration, or related field with 2 or more years of related experience, or a Master's degree in the same fields with some related experience.
  • Strong independent decision-making skills and ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of various computer technologies including Microsoft Suite, YouTube, Canva, Adobe, and various social media platforms.
  • Commitment to, knowledge of, and experience with leadership training and intercultural programming.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in Spanish appreciated.
