About the position

The New Trucks Sales Representative at Vanguard Truck Centers is responsible for cultivating and maintaining a customer base within a designated territory, utilizing a consultative sales approach to meet and exceed sales targets. This role emphasizes customer satisfaction and requires continuous education on sales techniques and industry trends. The representative will engage with customers, assist in vehicle selection, and ensure a smooth sales process from initial contact to delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and maintain a customer base within a given territory through daily sales calls.
  • Deliver customer-focused service through a consultative sales approach.
  • Sell and deliver a minimum number of vehicles per month.
  • Write complete sales orders and process paperwork in accordance with dealership policies.
  • Utilize dealership sales control and follow-up systems.
  • Attend product and sales training courses as requested by the sales manager.
  • Maintain an owner follow-up system to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Conduct business in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Assist customers in selecting a vehicle by asking questions and listening carefully to their responses.
  • Fully explain product performance, application, and benefits to prospects.
  • Offer test drives to all prospects and ensure proper identification is obtained prior to test drive.
  • Establish personal income goals consistent with dealership standards and devise a strategy to meet those goals.
  • Deliver vehicles to customers, ensuring they understand the vehicle's operating features, warranty, and paperwork.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of New Truck Sales experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess a technical understanding of diesel engines and related components.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and clients.
  • Valid Driver's License and State Sales License.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Eastern European languages or Spanish preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred.
