About the position

As a Newborn Hearing Screen Technician, you will play a crucial role in the early detection of hearing loss in newborns by conducting hearing screens in hospital settings. This part-time position involves working directly with infants and their families, educating parents about the importance of hearing screenings, and ensuring accurate documentation of results. The role requires flexibility to work weekends and holidays, and on-the-job training will be provided to help you succeed in this vital position.

Responsibilities

• Conduct newborn hearing screens in hospital settings, typically in the mother's room.
• Educate parents about the importance of hearing screenings using provided materials.
• Enter patient data and validate hearing screen results as needed.
• Confirm or reschedule outpatient appointments and follow up on equipment issues.
• Train new staff on procedures and protocols.
• Follow protocols for timely submission of billing and ensure security and identification of infants.
• Adhere to infection control and safety policies of the hospital and company.
• Complete required orientation and training, including patient privacy training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with infants preferred.
• Experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Computer proficiency and ability to perform accurate data entry.
• Ability to prioritize daily tasks and assignments.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work on weekends and national holidays required.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk frequently (95% of shift).
• Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds frequently.
