About the position
The Newborn Hearing Technician at Erlanger Health System plays a crucial role in the Children's Therapy Services department, focusing on the direct and indirect care of newborn patients. This position is under the supervision of a department Audiologist and requires the technician to demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to provide appropriate hearing screenings for infants in the Newborn Nursery (NBN) of Erlanger Medical Center and Women's East Pavilion. The technician must adhere to the standards set by the Joint Committee on Newborn Hearing Screening, ensuring compliance with treatment procedures and professional ethics. Additionally, the technician is expected to follow departmental policies and procedures meticulously. In this role, the technician is responsible for creating a calm and supportive environment for the newborns during the hearing screening process. This includes handling the infants with care and sensitivity, as well as effectively communicating with parents about the test procedures, results, and any necessary follow-up plans. The technician must also comply with state requirements for reporting test results, ensuring that all protocols are followed to maintain the integrity of the screening process. Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect care to newborn patients under the supervision of an Audiologist.
- Conduct hearing screenings for infants in the Newborn Nursery (NBN).

Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of experience working with infants less than 1 year of age required.
- BLS certification completed prior to working in the unit/department and maintained thereafter.
- Knowledge of hearing anatomy and physiology preferred.
- Two years of college education preferred.
