About the position

The Foods Host at Newport Aquarium is a part-time role focused on providing exceptional customer service in a food and beverage setting. The position involves adhering to safety protocols, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a positive guest experience while working independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform and implement all Herschend Enterprises' Core Values and Newport Aquarium Guest Experience Standards.
• Maintain a positive attitude and appearance while assisting guests.
• Arrive on time and ready to work all scheduled shifts according to uniform standards.
• Prioritize safety while working at Newport Aquarium.
• Maintain appropriate guest and team member relations to ensure satisfaction.
• Demonstrate strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Maintain store cleanliness in accordance with food safety guidelines.
• Handle cash properly and maintain PCI compliance.
• Maintain a friendly and proactive approach to guests and team members.
• Cross train in other food and beverage areas as needed.
• Contribute to a satisfying and energetic work environment.

Requirements

• Prior cash handling and point of sale experience is a plus.
• Strong public speaking skills and ability to communicate in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
• Ability to think clearly and react quickly to changes or stressful situations.
• Previous guest service, food industry, or retail experience preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Successful completion of pre-employment background check.
• Ability to remain stationary for long periods, ascend/descend stairs, bend and stoop.
• Physical strength to lift up to 25 pounds.
