As a News Editor at CNBC, you will play a crucial role in directing the online breaking news coverage for CNBC.com and its app. This position requires you to oversee the homepage programming for both platforms, ensuring that our audience is kept informed with the most relevant and timely news in business and finance. You will collaborate closely with CNBC's top managers and the entire newsroom to curate content that empowers our readers to make fast, informed decisions. In this fast-paced environment, you will need to maintain organization and composure, especially when multiple significant stories break simultaneously. For instance, while a plane may be attempting an emergency landing, you will also need to manage coverage of the president's remarks on trade and the sudden dip in oil prices. Your ability to juggle these responsibilities will be key to your success in this role. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring that CNBC.com delivers the top news of the day, placing articles on the homepage, packaging art and related topics, and adjusting headline tones as necessary. You will also edit breaking news articles and assist reporters and section editors in enhancing their online presentation. Additionally, you may be required to write breaking news as needed, showcasing your ability to produce clean, fast copy under pressure.
