About the position

Townsquare Media is seeking a passionate News Reporter/Digital Content Writer for KPQ in Wenatchee, WA. The role involves leading a team of reporters to deliver timely and engaging hyperlocal news content across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, focusing on creating shareable content that resonates with the local community while maintaining strong journalistic standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of reporters to deliver strong news content in a breaking news environment.
• Develop content ideas based on news value, audience demand, and search data.
• Write 1-3 articles per day, including breaking news, police and fire coverage, business news, features, and user-generated content.
• Create engaging social media copy and effective content marketing strategies to build an audience.
• Coach and assign articles/stories to reporters, ensuring quality and timely delivery.

Requirements

• 1-3 years' experience in a news organization, preferably in a digital newsroom.
• Strong writing and reporting skills with knowledge of AP style and SPJ code of ethics.
• Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with WordPress, HTML, Excel, Access, and video.

Nice-to-haves

• Multimedia skills are highly valued.
• Understanding of SEO and what makes online content engaging.
