About the position

Sinclair Broadcast Group's Capitol Hill bureau is seeking a talented News Video Editor who is a creative visual storyteller. This role requires the ability to manage multiple projects and meet various deadlines each week. The successful candidate will be responsible for covering a range of assignments, including day-to-day general news, in-depth features, and investigative stories, with a particular focus on issues related to Congress and the White House. The position involves editing video content for both broadcast and digital platforms, ensuring that the final product is engaging and informative. The ideal candidate will possess strong editing skills, particularly in non-linear editing systems, and will have experience in implementing creative graphics to enhance storytelling. Working efficiently under deadline pressure is crucial, as the role demands the ability to produce high-quality content quickly, especially during breaking news events. Excellent interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude are essential traits for success in this position. Responsibilities

  • Edit video for broadcast and digital platforms.

Requirements

  • At least three (3) years of video editing experience required.
  • Experience editing broadcast news packages under daily deadlines is preferred.
  • Experience with non-linear editing systems like AVID, Adobe Premiere, or Final Cut Pro.
  • Basic graphics skills.
  • Strong interest in news.
  • Ability to work as an aggressive team player who can produce great stories under tight deadlines.
  • Technical knowledge of editing and video equipment is required.
  • Ability to execute during breaking news events.
  • Ability to demonstrate creativity in storytelling.
  • Ability to work under deadline and on a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends when breaking news warrants.
