About the position

The News Video Editor is responsible for editing videos across various media platforms, including broadcast, web, digital, and social. This role involves acquiring video feeds from multiple transmission sources, ensuring field crews are prepared for air, and maintaining the content management and archive systems. The editor collaborates with the Chief News Editor to enhance the editing workflow and supports field operations by managing equipment and workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Edit videos for all media platforms and initiatives, including broadcast, web, digital, and social.
  • Acquire video feeds from satellite, microwave, backpacks, and other transmission sources.
  • Ensure field crews are ready for air, including making necessary IFB assignments.
  • Route and record all feeds into the content management system.
  • Maintain and retrieve assets in the content management and archive systems.
  • Assist the Field Operations Manager in maintaining field operations equipment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism/Production, Communications, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Two years' experience working as a news video editor in a television news environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of non-linear editing.
  • Familiarity with receiving video feeds from various transmission sources.

  • Understanding of current journalism standards.
  • Strong technical and organizational skills.
