About the position

The New Hampshire Senate Clerk's Office is seeking a Journal Clerk to compile and produce the Daily Journal of the Senate, ensuring accurate documentation of legislative actions. This role involves administrative duties, data entry, and collaboration with the Senate Clerk and other staff to maintain the integrity of Senate publications.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and compile information for the Daily Journal of the Senate.
  • Track legislative actions on the Senate floor during sessions.
  • Input information into the computer system and word processing for Senate publications.
  • Edit and proof materials for the Senate Calendar and Senate Journal.
  • Assist Senators, staff, and the public with inquiries regarding office publications.
  • Prepare Senate session binders and additional materials as needed.
  • Compose log sheets during Senate sessions.
  • Update the General Court website with Senate Bills and publications.
  • Oversee public appointment letters for Statutory/Study Committees.
  • Create and update XML instructions for various modules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or two years of relevant legislative experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Ability to work well in a high-paced and stressful environment.
  • Familiarity with legislative processes.
