About the position

Solvere Technical Group is seeking a highly skilled System Administrator to support Navy sustainment engineering and integration efforts. This position requires a Secret clearance and is specifically for candidates who are U.S. citizens residing in San Diego County. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system administration, particularly with Windows systems, SQL Server, and IIS, as well as experience in managing and implementing technical solutions that ensure service continuity and data exchange with external systems. The role involves ensuring that integration changes to legacy systems minimize risks associated with technical refresh efforts, and that updated versions are compatible with earlier versions as designated by the Government. The System Administrator will be responsible for deployment planning, installation verification, and testing to ensure that each technical solution operates effectively within the system environment. This includes providing comprehensive software release packages and supporting documentation to facilitate installation and data migration by the existing Government workforce or third-party designees. The candidate will also be expected to implement modularity and open systems architecture improvements to reduce life-cycle costs of the systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as the individual will serve as a resource for others in the organization, addressing both common and unusual issues that arise. Candidates must possess a degree in engineering, computer science, or a related STEM field, or have an Associates Degree with four years of relevant technical work experience. A minimum of 10 years of system administration experience is required, along with the ability to build relationships with various stakeholders, including government technical representatives and other contractors. Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary, as is the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment. Prior Navy experience and familiarity with NIAPS, CANES, ISNS, and other related systems are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure integration changes to the legacy system minimize risk to the technical refresh effort.
  • Ensure updated Technical Refresh versions are compatible/interoperable with earlier versions as designated by the Government.
  • Ensure service continuity and data exchange with designated external systems, and coordination of concurrent changes with interface partners.
  • Provide necessary deployment planning, installation verification, and testing to ensure each technical solution works within the system environment.
  • Abide by Government standards, regulations, and policy.
  • Provide software release package and supporting documentation comprehensive enough to facilitate package installation and data migration by the existing Government workforce or third-party designee.
  • Implement modularity and open systems architecture improvements that reduce life-cycle costs of the systems.
  • Serve as a resource on the subject for others in the organization.

Requirements

  • Must have a degree in engineering, computer science or STEM.
  • Associates Degree and 4 years related technical work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.
  • MUST have 10+ years of System Administration experience.
  • Ability to work with and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders; government technical representatives, and other supporting contractors.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team collaborative environment.
  • Ability to brief senior government personnel.
  • MUST have experience as a Windows system administrator (2003, 2012 and above).
  • MUST have experience managing SQL Server (2005, 2008, 2012, 2016 and above).
  • MUST have experience managing IIS (6.0 and above).
  • MUST have experience and ability in writing, debugging and documenting automating scripts using PowerShell and batch files.
  • MUST have experience and ability to troubleshoot and document steps to solve common and unusual problems.
  • Ability to possess a CSWF IAT II certification level (Cybersecurity Workforce Credentials IAT 2 Windows OS and Security+) - Required.
