About the position

The Night Auditor is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of hotel revenues and expenses while delivering exceptional service to guests. This role involves balancing and auditing various revenue streams, preparing management reports, and assisting with guest services, including check-ins and breakfast setup. The Night Auditor also acts as a security point of contact and promotes teamwork across shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards.
  • Balance and audit room revenue, food and beverage revenue, and telephone revenue for accuracy.
  • Assist in the preparation of all reports relevant to daily revenues.
  • Balance and audit all room tax charges, cashier reports, and guest house accounts for accuracy.
  • Complete and transmit daily management/accounting reports with supporting documentation.
  • Prepare General Manager daily, weekly, and month-end reporting packs.
  • Assist in the setup of the complimentary breakfast service, including food service and supplies.
  • Assist in washing, drying, and folding hotel laundry.
  • Act as the security point of contact during various times in the shift.
  • Communicate with the Operations Manager to resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Register guests, issue room keys, and provide information on hotel services.
  • Answer phones in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Accurately process all cash and credit card transactions according to established procedures.
  • Book guest reservations and process cancellations or revisions as needed.
  • Up-sell rooms to maximize revenue.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication with other shifts.
  • Service the shoppe and the pour by ensuring guests receive the service and products offered by the hotel.
  • Follow all local laws regarding alcoholic beverage sales.
  • Ensure guest special requests are fulfilled and proper delivery of guest services is delivered.
  • Issue, control, and release guest safe-deposit boxes.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local laws regarding health, safety, and alcohol services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of previous hotel experience preferred.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English; other languages beneficial.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, percentages, and variances preferred.
  • Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous background from the extended stay industry preferred.
  • Experience in front desk operations preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a ServSafe certification.
  • Ability to obtain a TIPS certification.
