About the position

Join our front desk team at the Sheraton Sioux Falls Hotel as a Night Auditor, where you will play a crucial role in providing our guests with an exceptional hotel experience during the overnight shift. As the sole front desk associate during these hours, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounts of cash, checks, and credit transactions, ensuring that all revenues are posted to the correct department, and balancing the guest ledger daily. Your role will also involve handling confidential information, including guest records, with a high degree of integrity and professionalism. You will address guest complaints and requests in a friendly manner, taking initiative to resolve issues or escalate them to the appropriate representative when necessary. In addition to guest relations, you will manage daily paperwork, including occupancy reports, guest lists, cash drawer summaries, balance sheets, and housekeeping reports. You may also be required to make management decisions in the absence of a manager. Proficiency in Excel and other reporting tools will be essential as you submit reports to the corporate office. Following all company policies and safety procedures is paramount, as is maintaining the confidentiality of proprietary information and protecting company assets. This position requires flexibility in working hours, including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, making it ideal for those who thrive in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate accounts of cash, checks, and credit transactions.
  • Provide accounting support to the hotel by ensuring all revenues are posted to the correct department.
  • Balance the guest ledger on a daily basis and complete all necessary reports.
  • Handle confidential information, including guest records, with a high degree of integrity.
  • Address guest complaints, issues and/or requests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Provide reports to management about asset utilization and audit results.
  • Work proactively to recommend changes in operations and financial activities.
  • Manage daily paperwork including occupancy report, guest list, cash drawer summary, balance sheet, account summary, history file, and housekeeping report.
  • Make management decisions in a manager's absence as required.
  • Effectively utilize Excel, workbooks, and access to submit reports to corporate office as appropriate.
  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries and unsafe work conditions to management.
  • Complete safety training and certifications.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
  • Perform any and all other work as required to complete the primary purpose of the position.

Requirements

  • Six (6) months of Front Office experience in a hotel environment.
  • Prior experience performing basic accounting duties.
  • Able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
  • Able to stand and/or walk for the duration of the scheduled shift.

Nice-to-haves

  • Valid state driver's license and adherence to all company guidelines regarding moving violations.
