In addition to financial responsibilities, the Night Auditor must be willing to cross-train in other accounting-related areas within the hotel. This includes performing various guest service functions, such as taking reservations and conducting wake-up calls. The position demands strong organizational skills to prioritize job functions effectively and meet deadlines. The Night Auditor will also keep management informed of any unusual operational financial events or deviations from established policies and procedures, and respond to governmental inquiries as necessary. Responsibilities

  • Work with and understand financial information and data, and perform basic arithmetic functions.
  • Cross-train in other accounting hotel-related areas as needed.
  • Perform guest services functions such as checking guests in and out, taking reservations, and making wake-up calls.
  • Audit and reconcile financial and statistical reports.
  • Prepare and distribute necessary daily reports according to hotel standards, including Daily Operating Report, Discount Programs, and Tax Reports.
  • Prepare and distribute month-end reports.
  • Audit, reconcile, consolidate, and transmit all credit cards on a timely basis.
  • Prioritize job functions to meet deadlines.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual data processing system functions as required.
  • Keep management informed of any unusual operational financial events and/or deviations from policies and procedures.
  • Respond to governmental inquiries upon receipt.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience of accounting principles.
  • Prior customer service or hospitality experience is preferred.
  • High school diploma and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to provide high-level customer service and communicate effectively with guests and team members.
  • Ability to follow instructions and learn quickly.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Proficiency in keyboarding and computer technology, including email, MS Word, Excel, and other hotel-related systems.
  • Aptitude with numbers and data analysis.
