About the position

The Night Bartender Team Lead at The Varsity Tap is a full-time role focused on providing exceptional customer service and mixology skills in a fast-paced environment. The position involves crafting cocktails, serving beverages, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for guests while leading the bar operations during night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes and customer preferences.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, ensuring all supplies are stocked and readily available.
• Engage with customers, taking orders, providing recommendations, and ensuring satisfaction throughout their visit.
• Handle cash register transactions accurately, including processing payments and managing tabs.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate food and drink orders for banquets and catering events.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including responsible alcohol service practices.
• Assist in training new staff on bar operations, drink preparation, and customer service standards.
• Stay updated on beverage trends, menu changes, and promotions to effectively communicate with guests.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Bartender in a restaurant or fine dining setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with POS systems or similar cash register systems is a plus.
• Strong sales skills with the ability to upsell beverages and menu items effectively.
• Proficient in basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately.
• Knowledge of the food industry, including banquet and catering service experience is advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills with a friendly demeanor to engage customers positively.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Must be of legal drinking age.
• Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
