About the position

The Night Custodian is responsible for the overall cleanliness, sanitation, security, safety, and maintenance of the assigned facilities, buildings, grounds, and equipment. The employee monitors supply and equipment inventories, facility rentals, and HVAC systems within the school facility. This position works under the general supervision of the Night Foreman and/or Head Custodian and includes regular supervision of all part-time custodians located at the assigned facility.

Responsibilities

• Ensure overall cleanliness and sanitation of facilities and grounds.
• Monitor supply and equipment inventories.
• Oversee facility rentals and HVAC systems.
• Supervise part-time custodians at the assigned facility.
• Set up tables, chairs, and trash receptacles for events.
• Remove trash and clean spills throughout the school.
• Clean the cafeteria after lunch periods.
• Monitor and clean restrooms to uphold health and safety standards.
• Unclog plumbing and waste traps as needed.
• Prepare room setups for meetings and events as assigned.
• Open and close buildings, ensuring security by locking windows and doors.
• Remove snow, ice, leaves, and debris from walkways and stairs.
• Submit requests for supplies through School Dude software.
• Change light bulbs and paint as assigned.
• Stock and deliver paper supplies to offices.
• Strip, seal, buff, and wax floors within school buildings.
• Raise and lower flags at school buildings for half-mast notifications.
• Assist departments with moving files and boxes.
• Regulate heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
• Report maintenance repairs to the department head.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in cleaning and custodial work.
• Experience in snow removal and operation of snow removal equipment.
• Valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's license.

Benefits

• Hourly wage of $20.79 - $25.57
• Twelve months of employment per year
