About the position

Landstar is a leading provider of safe, secure, and reliable transportation services, operating through a unique network of independent agents and capacity providers. As a Night Operations Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in supporting our agents, Business Capacity Owners (BCOs), broker carriers, employees, external customers, and field personnel around the clock. This position is essential for ensuring operational efficiency and customer satisfaction, as you will be managing after-hours calls and addressing various logistics issues that arise during the night shift. In this role, you will be responsible for distributing funds, resolving logistics issues, supporting the Accident Hotline, addressing cargo claims, assisting with border crossings, managing permits, and coordinating trailer maintenance. Your effective problem-solving skills will be vital in ensuring that all operations run smoothly and that our customers receive the highest level of service. You will be working in a fast-paced environment, requiring the ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure. The position involves a rotating shift schedule of four days on and four days off, from 7 PM to 7 AM CT. Training will be conducted on-site during regular business hours, Monday through Friday. The salary for this position ranges from $18.28 to $22.86 per hour, depending on experience, with internal applicants given priority through June 13, 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Answer after-hours calls for all departments
  • Distribute or authorize funds to capacity providers and/or vendors in accordance with Landstar policies and procedures
  • Complete Landstar Service Incident Reports (LSIR) on any service-related issues
  • Respond to and resolve pickup, in-transit, delivery and other logistics issues and/or complaints between agents, BCOs and customers
  • Support the Accident Hotline and respond to requests for assistance as required
  • Assist with cargo discrepancies/claims, contact after hours on call staff when needed
  • Assist BCOs with all border crossing/customs issues
  • Provide HAZMAT spill assistance
  • Handle incoming calls pertaining to various BCO requests for funds
  • Issue authorizations to shops for all company trailers for any repairs or preventative maintenance needed
  • Assist BCOs locating trailers that have been assigned by the trailer utilization department
  • Support Managed Accounts as needed

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One year of office experience required
  • One year of customer service experience
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Internet and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good typing skills, 35+ WPM
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a call center environment
