As a Night Shift Ethanol Production Operator at Southwest Iowa Renewable Energy, LLC, you will play a crucial role in the production of ethanol and its co-products. This position involves operating machinery and equipment necessary for the production process, which includes the loading and unloading of all products delivered and shipped out. You will be responsible for testing and monitoring the entire production process to ensure that all tasks are completed safely and efficiently, adhering to approved policies and practices. The role requires you to complete all necessary training and skills testing as specified by the company. The work schedule consists of 12-hour shifts from 8 PM to 8 AM, with a rotation of 4 nights on followed by 4 nights off. You will be expected to learn all areas of the plant in a short period, which includes the Cook area (from corn grind to fermentation), the DD&E area (distillation, dehydration, and evaporation), the Energy center (regenerative thermal oxidizer, boiler, water treatment, driers, and centrifuges), Board Operation (managing plant processes through distributive control systems), and product handling, loading, and testing. Collaboration with other personnel is essential to ensure that all standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and documentation are completed as required. In addition to operating machinery, you will inspect incoming grain to ensure it meets company standards, communicate with the QA/QC laboratory for effective quality control participation, and manage the timely loading and unloading of ethanol and other products by railcar and truck. You will also be responsible for maintaining records related to product shipments, testing equipment, and ensuring cleanliness and organization in various areas of the plant. Safety is paramount, and you will be expected to document any near-misses, accidents, or injuries, while keeping the plant in a Tour Ready condition at all times. Personal protective equipment must be worn as required in specific areas of the plant.
