About the position

As a Night Shift Microbiology Lab Supervisor at Quest Diagnostics in Oklahoma City, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of all services within the Microbiology Lab. This position is essential for maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and integrity while meeting the needs of our patients. You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the lab, which includes scheduling, hiring, conducting disciplinary actions, and leading department meetings. You will also implement new policies and procedures, review quality control and quality assurance records, and conduct annual performance reviews for your team. Your leadership will be crucial in training staff and ensuring compliance with Quest and DLO guidelines, as well as fostering a safe and professional work environment that encourages employee involvement. In this role, you will need to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with peers, direct reports, clients, and the public. You will be expected to implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practice initiatives (BPT) while maintaining a safe and ergonomically sound work environment. The position requires a proactive approach to leadership, as you will be responsible for organizing and leading projects both within your work group and in collaboration with cross-functional teams. You will also need to stay updated on the latest innovations in test methodologies to ensure the lab remains at the forefront of clinical microbiology practices. This position is a full-time role with a night shift schedule, typically from 8:30 PM to 7 AM, Monday through Friday, with potential rotation through shifts. Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the accuracy and reliability of all services in the Microbiology Lab.
  • Responsible for scheduling, hiring, and conducting disciplinary actions.
  • Lead department meetings and implement new policies and procedures.
  • Review quality control and quality assurance records.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and training for staff.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with peers, direct reports, clients, and the public.
  • Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practice initiatives (BPT) in accordance with Quest and DLO guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe and ergonomically sound work environment that encourages employee involvement.
  • Stay abreast of the latest innovations in test methodologies.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Medical Technology or Bachelor's degree with Microbiology ASCP Certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a clinical Microbiology Laboratory.
  • Experience in a Lead or Supervisory capacity with proven leadership skills preferred.
  • MT(ASCP) or equivalent certification is required.
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge of the technical aspects of tests performed in Clinical Microbiology, including Bacteriology, automated ID, and antimicrobial susceptibility systems.
  • Ability to lead employees in daily activities and interact with medical staff regarding microbiology services.
  • Good organizational and communication skills to address client concerns and employee issues professionally.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
