About the position

This position is designed for undergraduate students to provide technical and analytical support in the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) area at the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC Pac). The role involves hands-on project work, assisting in engineering analyses, and participating in various projects related to autonomous vehicles and ISR systems. The student will work under the guidance of Lead Systems Engineers and contribute to the development and testing of new technologies, while also engaging in departmental activities to improve engineering processes.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting standardized and experimental engineering support with subsurface and surface Autonomous Vehicles in a controlled lab environment.
  • Performing data analysis using Microsoft Excel and appropriate statistical software.
  • Composing and completing technical reports, system analyses, and assessments.
  • Assisting with the development of processes and procedures utilized by ISR systems in the collection and dissemination of data.
  • Participating in Lead Systems Engineer meetings to assist coordination of engineering related events and presentations for the ISR Department and NIWC Pacific.
  • Conducting relevant literature searches pertaining to the acceptance and execution of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices.

Requirements

  • Must be at the Sophomore, Junior, or Senior level in any major, with a preference for STEM and Engineering/Science courses.
  • Understanding of the discipline and theories, but can be without work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and common statistical software.
  • Interest and/or experience in engineering practices as well as software and hardware development.
  • Strong work ethic, detail-oriented, and good communication skills.
