About the position

The Project Management Coordinator supports large construction project managers and department budgets, assisting with the timely and efficient management of utility transmission and distribution projects that are moderate to complex in engineering scope. This role involves maintaining project schedules, performing quality control, preparing budget analysis reports, and serving as a liaison with corporate finance and budget teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the creation and maintenance of project schedules for all phases of the project.
  • Maintaining the capital project program schedule and resolving schedule and project cost issues.
  • Verifying and performing quality control procedures.
  • Facilitating project teams and leading control meetings for medium to large projects.
  • Preparing weekly/monthly capital spend reports and budget analysis reports.
  • Preparing and editing scope of work, contract terms, and professional services agreements.
  • Reviewing contract estimate to actuals and preparing reports for management.
  • Assisting with project budget requests and tracking CAP forms for management approval.
  • Tracking the project physical percent complete of large capital projects.
  • Providing project cost analysis to support the creation of new contracts and amendments.
  • Coordinating project budget timelines and processing of RFAFs with Engineers and PMs.
  • Serving as a liaison with corporate Finance and Budget teams during reforecasts and variance reporting.
  • Documenting work processes and standard work instructions for capital projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with three to five years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present to all levels of management.
  • Proficiency in MS software, especially Excel spreadsheets and pivot tables.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with utility and PNM-specific finance and accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies.
