About the position

The Security Engineer specializing in electronic security systems design is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive security solutions to protect an organization's digital and physical assets. This role combines expertise in information technology, security protocols, and system architecture to create robust and effective security systems.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and design electronic security systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and integrated security management platforms.
  • Translate client requirements into detailed system designs and technical specifications.
  • Prepare accurate engineering solutions for various physical security systems.
  • Create system flow diagrams, rack elevations, and functional data documentation.
  • Serve as lead technical architect and systems integrator for complex security systems.
  • Conduct site surveys and investigations to gather necessary data before initiating design work.
  • Develop network topologies in collaboration with the Network Engineering team.
  • Provide technical responses to client requests for information.
  • Identify and define system security requirements.
  • Perform regular security checks and troubleshooting to identify potential vulnerabilities.
  • Suggest and implement solutions for improving existing security measures.
  • Stay current with the latest security technologies and trends.
  • Prepare detailed reports including assessment-based findings and recommendations for system security enhancement.
  • Create and maintain documentation for standard operating procedures and protocols.
  • Develop submittal documentation for client review.
  • Provide QA/QC oversight for project documents and deliverables.
  • Work closely with development teams, sales personnel, and clients to ensure system designs meet expectations.
  • Participate in project meetings to review job documentation and determine project schedules.
  • Oversee technicians, subcontractors, and other site personnel to ensure work completion per established standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in security systems engineering or related role.
  • Proficiency in designing and configuring access control and video surveillance systems.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, IT security, and physical security integration.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and compliance requirements (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Top Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or PSP are preferred.
