Noise Vibration Engineer

About the position

The NV Engineer position at Hitachi Astemo Americas, Inc. is integral to the xEV Drive Unit team, focusing on Electric Vehicle products. This role involves providing analysis support for the manufacturing plant during both New Product Introduction and Mass Production phases. The engineer will guide the NV analysis staff, ensuring timely and accurate testing, reporting results to management, and overseeing the maintenance of NV testing equipment. Collaboration with various engineering and production teams is essential to ensure smooth operations and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Guide the NV analysis staff on the NV analysis of drive units produced at the manufacturing location.
• Ensure testing is carried out on schedule and accurately, reporting results to management.
• Oversee the scheduling and maintenance of NV testing equipment.
• Work with Process Engineers, Test Engineers, Analysis Engineers, SQ & QA Engineers, Maintenance, Technical Associates, and Production personnel.
• Develop manufacturing location and testing processes to support mass production start-up of EV products.
• Support the Quality department in developing and maturing testing equipment.
• Develop testing fixtures and protocols for manufactured and supplied parts for mass production.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) or Engineering Technology (Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, etc.).
• 2 years of testing experience in manufacturing or a similar role.
• Experience in creating testing plans/profiles.
• Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings/specifications.

Nice-to-haves

• Work experience in the automotive industry, particularly with electro/mechanical devices.
• Knowledge of EV components such as inverters and motors.
• Familiarity with Quality Systems such as IATF16949, PPAP, CAPA, NPI, APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, etc.
• Experience with problem-solving tools like 5P, 5-why, DOE, FTA, etc., with a strong aptitude for root cause analysis.
• Experience with NV analysis software (Meidacs, OnoSokki, etc.).
