About the position
The Non-CDL Light Driver position at Interstate Waste Services involves safely operating front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up of waste or recyclable materials. The role is crucial in ensuring efficient transportation of materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities while adhering to safety standards and regulations. Responsibilities
- Safely operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks for waste or recyclable material pick-up.
- Transport materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities, making multiple trips as needed throughout the shift.
- Perform manual and automatic truck operations as required.
- Lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver up to 100 pounds, including mounting and dismounting the truck multiple times during each route.
- Conduct pre and post inspections of the truck to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Valid Class A or B CDL with airbrake endorsement.
- At least 1 year of CDL driving experience within the last 7 years.
- Great safety record and clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Experience as a driver or helper for a refuse company is highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations.
- Ability to speak and read English to communicate effectively and understand traffic signals.
- Ability to read and understand maps.
- Meet physical and safety requirements of the position.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience navigating congested communities and confined areas in city locations.
- Highly skilled in backing maneuvers.
Benefits
- Hourly pay of $23.63 with overtime pay.
- Regular full-time position with a Monday to Friday schedule starting at 6 AM.
