About the position

The NON-NUCLEAR SHIP SYSTEM INSPECTOR position at the TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY in Bangor involves performing inspections and tests on non-nuclear mechanical, piping, and structural systems related to deep diving submarines. The role is critical in ensuring the quality and safety of ship systems through rigorous testing and documentation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections and tests on non-nuclear mechanical, piping, and structural systems.
  • Witness shop and shipboard tests to verify and document component, equipment, and system strength and performance.
  • Verify and witness in-process phases of the painting process for surveillance or third-party inspections.
  • Participate in audits and in-process surveillance, submitting reports and recommending corrective actions for discrepancies.
  • Maintain files, charts, plans, and status reports of inspections and deficiencies.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Must be registered for Selective Service if born after 12-31-59.
  • Must complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment continuously during work shifts.
  • Ability to lift tools and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
