About the position

Our instructors/trainers are experienced educators with deep expertise in Haitian Creole and a strong commitment to promoting linguistic and cultural education. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational and communication skills and a deep understanding of Haitian Creole language and culture. CCAPE's clients and students trust our instructors to handle culturally sensitive information and to foster a learning environment that encourages respect for diversity and language development. This position involves developing and delivering Haitian Creole language training programs, which are contract-based and/or subject to enrollment. This Instructor will develop, lead, and teach Haitian Creole language programs/workshops for the Center for Community and Professional Education (CCAPE) at Cape Cod Community College. The position involves developing curricula, providing classroom and/or virtual instruction, and supporting students in gaining proficiency in Haitian Creole. Courses may vary in length and schedule depending on need.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver classroom and/or virtual noncredit Haitian Creole language training sessions tailored to the specific needs of students, community members, and professionals.
  • Participate in the department's efforts to assess, develop, and implement noncredit language curriculum, courses, and programs.
  • Stay current on best practices, theories, and developments in language education and Haitian Creole.
  • Maintain and submit attendance, grades, student evaluations, and all other required documentation and reports per established procedures.
  • Ensure all training sessions are aligned with programmatic standards and institutional goals.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in Haitian Creole, with fluency in both oral and written communication.
  • Experience in developing and delivering language training programs or courses in an educational or community setting (live stream, hybrid, and in person).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
  • Commitment to promoting cultural understanding and respect through language education.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of pedagogical practices related to language education and curriculum development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field such as Language Studies, Education, or Linguistics.
  • Experience with virtual and in-person training delivery, including the use of online learning platforms.
  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to handle complex discussions related to language and cultural differences.
  • Experience working in a multicultural, academic or corporate setting.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $50/hour for instruction, dependent upon qualifications, teaching experience, and field experience.
  • An additional one-time stipend is available for curriculum development.
  • Part-time (up to 18 hours per week) project-based, non-benefited, non-unit position.
