About the position
The Executive Director of Economic Development and Tourism is a leadership role responsible for managing the economic development and tourism divisions of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce. This position involves overseeing operations, developing strategic plans, managing staff, and fostering relationships with various stakeholders to promote economic growth and tourism in Morris County.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the MCEDC and MCTB, including budget development and P&L maintenance.
- Manage staff, interns, and volunteers.
- Maintain and update websites and social media presence to promote the county.
- Oversee marketing and promotion of the county's assets to drive economic activity.
- Plan and oversee fundraising for special and annual events.
- Apply for and manage various grants to support operations and projects.
- Develop and execute strategic plans for economic development and tourism.
- Convene Advisory Boards and oversee member activities and events.
- Represent Morris County in promotional efforts and maintain relationships with local and state officials and partners.
- Oversee marketing initiatives, including trade shows and digital campaigns.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in economic development and/or tourism.
- Experience managing subordinates and consultants.
- Experience working within a non-profit organization.
- Ability to read and interpret financial reports and government regulations.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Proven track record in leading economic development initiatives.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Competency in website design, social media, and MS Office.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of Morris County NJ and northcentral New Jersey.
- Familiarity with social media platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
