About the position

The Adaptive Skills Training Professional's primary duty is to design and implement Adaptive Skills Training and Behavior Management Plans for individuals with developmental disabilities (clients). The personalized plans will focus on enhancing the clients' daily living skills in communication, social functions, and various interpersonal skills areas including safety skills, toileting skills, skills needed to access the community, feeding skills, hygiene and dressing skills, staff and personnel training, skills needed to access technology, communication, skills needed to buy and prepare food, challenging behavior, competency training, sleep and sleep hygiene, housekeeping skills, choice making, and specialty counseling. The Adaptive Skills Training Professional is responsible for hiring Adaptive Skills Training Specialist Staff and will provide new hire and ongoing training and development to the AST staff, while meeting clients' specific needs through Adaptive Skills Training and Behavior Management Plans.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the AST Program, including service design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Hire, supervise, mentor, and provide training and development to AST Specialist staff.
  • Conduct behavior assessments and provide behavioral consultation and training to staff, including BCBA supervision, caregiver training, and staff performance evaluations.
  • Model programs and interventions for staff to ensure treatment fidelity.
  • Participate in in-service training and continuing education for staff development.
  • Ensure services are aligned with consumer needs and meet contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide clinical direction and oversight for consumers receiving AST, ensuring treatment plans, Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) are developed, implemented, and modified as necessary.
  • Conduct consumer and parent meetings, providing updates on consumer progress, and ensuring that families and caregivers are trained and supported in implementing treatment plans.
  • Regularly review consumer data and progress reports, providing necessary modifications to behavior plans or services.
  • Work closely with other program consultants, Regional Center staff, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care for consumers.
  • Maintain complete and up-to-date consumer files, oversee the preparation of Individual Service Plans (ISPs), and ensure all billing and reporting requirements are met.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for urgent matters, providing support as needed and being available for emergencies during business hours.
  • Ensure that necessary supplies and materials are maintained for program activities.
  • Provide clinical supervision and training to staff and families.
  • Maintain knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and ensure patient confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in education, psychology, counseling, nursing, social work, applied behavior analysis, behavioral medicine, speech and language, rehabilitation, marriage and family therapy, or a comparable degree in a human services field.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience designing and implementing Adaptive Skills Training Plans.
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst with a minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in behavior analysis and working with individuals with developmental disabilities, preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a management or leadership role in a similar field, ideally working with individuals with complex behavioral needs or forensic involvement.
  • Excellent organizational skills, planning, and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Training knowledge of various teaching methods and approaches.
  • Ability to convey information in a manner that staff understands.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management software.
