About the position

The IRR Project Manager at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) plays a crucial role in supporting the North America Indigenous Right Relations (IRR) program. This position is responsible for coordinating, overseeing, and implementing complex initiatives that foster equitable partnerships with Indigenous Peoples. The Project Manager will utilize their lived experience and exceptional communication skills to build relationships and lead diverse teams, ensuring alignment with TNC's conservation goals and the self-determined priorities of Indigenous communities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the implementation of large and complex initiatives within the IRR program.
  • Develop project plans, establish team structures, and manage timelines to ensure accountability.
  • Facilitate meetings and clarify roles among team members.
  • Engage in issue resolution and conflict management to collaboratively solve complex problems.
  • Model the principles of right relations, creating safe spaces for co-creation and learning.
  • Work across a highly matrixed organization to foster collaboration and communication among diverse teams.
  • Support Indigenous ownership, use, and access to lands and waters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, political science, public policy, international relations, international development or related field.
  • 4 years of related experience including Indigenous studies, conservation practice, project management, and/or natural resource management.
  • Experience leading complex projects or strategic initiatives in an unstructured environment.
  • Experience researching, analyzing, and evaluating information from diverse sources and compiling it into cohesive reports.
  • Experience writing and editing promotional and informational material.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with Indigenous Peoples or in multicultural/multidisciplinary contexts.
  • Familiarity with the histories, cultures, rights, and policies related to Indigenous Peoples of North America.
  • Experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion as it applies to conservation design and implementation.
  • Master's degree.
