About the position

The North America Quality Assurance Manager at Mission Produce is responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards for all company products. This role involves reviewing and updating product specifications, implementing testing and sampling procedures, and promoting quality standards among associates. The manager will work closely with various departments to communicate quality data and trends, investigate customer returns, and develop corrective actions to optimize product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate customer returns to determine and track root causes and coordinate with respective departments to develop corrective actions.
  • Optimize product quality by conducting product, operations, and compliance audits.
  • Prepare quality documents and reports summarizing key metrics, information, and trends.
  • Develop improved quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Integrate and implement quality assurance standards throughout product process flow.
  • Standardize processes across facilities.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate/create training interventions to meet quality standards.
  • Execute, evaluate, and improve on FDC Scorecard Audit Process and implement appropriate corrective actions from findings.
  • Plan, conduct, and monitor testing and inspection of materials and products to ensure finished product quality.
  • Collect and compile statistical quality data beneficial to the Global Mission team.
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system.
  • Draft quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Integrate QA into production and train employees to ensure efficient and accurate quality processes.
  • Review QA reports and communicate details and outcomes of quality activities to Global Mission reporting channels.
  • Communicate with Global Quality teams and ensure alignment of standards and needs between Mission and Customers.
  • Maintain and update all QA SOPs for all facilities.
  • Perform inspections and duties of QA techs and ensure accuracy and timely delivery of reports using existing technologies.
  • Carry out all standards set forth by the Sr. Director of Global Quality and Logistics.
  • Create and complete experiments to test packaging, product, and other elements of quality.
  • Set up stations and equipment to measure quality specifications.
  • Test product for oil content, temperature, and internal/external defects.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workstation.
  • Lift 48-pound containers from stacked pallets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in food science or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of prior work experience in Quality Assurance preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • D365 background a plus.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently and remain self-motivated with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail.
