About the position

The North Barn General Manager (GM) at Retreat Farm is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the operations of the North Barn, a new event space designed to host a variety of private, nonprofit, and community-focused events. The GM will strategize and implement processes for the growth of this enterprise, ensuring it aligns with Retreat Farm's mission of connecting people to the land and each other. This position involves managing staff, developing partnerships, and creating a sustainable revenue stream while enhancing community engagement through diverse programming.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute a business plan for the North Barn that aligns with Retreat Farm's Strategic Plan.
  • Develop evaluation metrics for tracking progress to North Barn goals and create a reporting dashboard.
  • Provide data analytics regarding sales, partners, and mission-aligned achievements to the Executive Director and management teams.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and CFO to create and maintain annual plans for forecasting and evaluation metrics.
  • Supervise and manage the Program Director, Venue Coordinator, and Thirsty Goat staff, and support team development.
  • Work with the Program Director and Venue Coordinator to develop long-term strategic initiatives and executable plans.
  • Integrate Retreat Farm programming into the North Barn, balancing private and community-serving events.
  • Support visitor and client-facing operations, including private event sales, marketing, and public relations.

Requirements

  • At least five years' experience in business or nonprofit management, restaurant general management, or a similar role.
  • Experience with business or nonprofit planning.
  • Familiarity with financial and budgetary processes.
  • Excellent leadership skills, focusing on employee coaching and development.
  • Strong communication skills, both external and internal.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant industry trends and a willingness to research continuously.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business, management, nonprofit management, hospitality, or a related field.
  • Strong ability with database and information systems software, including Google Suite, LightSpeed, and SalesForce.
  • Experience in data analysis.
