About the position
The Cook at Travelodge/Penny's Diner is responsible for preparing food items according to standardized recipes while ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in the kitchen. The role requires maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation, as well as adhering to safety regulations and operational standards. The Cook must work efficiently in a high-pressure environment and provide excellent service to guests.
Responsibilities
- Prepare all food items based on standardized recipes for the Diner.
- Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in the kitchen and work areas.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
- Comply with Avantic Lodging Enterprises standards and regulations.
- Prepare and display Diner food items according to hotel standards.
- Maintain organization of all storage areas.
- Complete necessary food and station preparations prior to opening.
- Maintain post on kitchen line during Diner operating hours.
- Breakdown kitchen line and store food and equipment properly at the end of each shift.
- Practice safe work habits to avoid injury to self or others.
- Attend meetings as required by management.
- Perform any other duties as requested by management.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
- Food Handlers Certification compliant with State requirements.
- Ability to convey information and ideas clearly.
- Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
- Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
- Maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
