North Slope Operator Intern 2025

About the position

The North Slope Operator Internship at ConocoPhillips offers students an immersive experience in the oil and gas industry, specifically targeting those enrolled in or recently graduated from the Process Technology program. Interns will work closely with a mentor and crew, gaining hands-on training and responsibilities in field operations and maintenance, while actively participating in safety programs and processes.

Responsibilities

• Learning about health, safety and environmental hazards
• Practicing emergency preparedness and learning how to recognize hazards
• Responding to and reporting incidents and near-misses
• Attending daily tailgate meetings
• Making rounds and taking readings
• Monitoring normal operation conditions
• Troubleshooting as problems arise
• Witnessing the work permit system
• Assisting in energy isolation

Requirements

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
• Current valid driver's license
• Completion of at least 4 process technology specific courses provided by the University of Alaska system
• Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
• Ability to become Process Safety Management certified
• Willing and able to work in a remotely based environment working a 14-days on 14-days off schedule
• Willing and able to work in physical exposures that include severe arctic weather, moderate loads and climbing stairs/ladders
• Willing and able to comply with all aspects of a respiratory protection policy
