About the position
Join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team as a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, where you will play a vital role in providing advanced healthcare in a collaborative environment. This position offers a challenging opportunity for advanced practitioners looking to thrive through extensive training and support, with potential for career advancement. You will work night shifts from 7pm to 8am, with extra compensation for night hours, contributing to the health of patients and communities.
Responsibilities
- Determine the patient's health and medical status by taking health histories and performing physical exams.
- Initiate screening and diagnostic procedures.
- Provide health maintenance services and manage pregnancy, minor trauma, acute illnesses, and stable chronic illness.
- Consult with physicians as appropriate, keeping them informed of patient care needs and problems.
Requirements
- Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current Virginia State Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) and DEA license required, or must be eligible to obtain.
- AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
- Advanced Life Support certification required.
- Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Medicine.
- Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers.
- Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills.
- Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
