NPD Design Engineering Leader

About the position

As the NPD Design Engineering Leader at KCC Companies, you will lead a team of design engineers in the development and design of new HVAC equipment. This hands-on role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to take products from concept to customer, focusing on system integration, engineering design standards, and manufacturing efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the company culture and values throughout your team and the organization.
• Create and maintain design standards within SolidWorks and other related software.
• Provide leadership and oversight of designs of new products and improvements to existing products.
• Own the design of systems and subsystems related to the operation and assembly of HVAC equipment.
• Research and evaluate products, parts, or processes for performance, cost efficiency and reliability.
• Approve all integrated components and system designs within the product.
• Create and/or manage ERP system data as assigned.
• Develop and lead processes for new product introduction as it relates to all system design and configuration.
• Maintain a working understanding of applicable industry standards (ASHRAE, AHRI, ANSI, etc.).
• Analyze test results and recommend appropriate design changes.
• Work with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA) is considered during part design.
• Collaborate with Product Engineering and R&D groups in the design of systems and subassemblies ready for manufacturing.
• Coach team members to stimulate their best performance.
• Mentor engineers in fundamental sciences, application, product design, and professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Proficient with 3D modeling software (SolidWorks preferred).
• Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft products.
• Strong hands-on/mechanical aptitude.
• Strong decision making, organizational and analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to overcome unforeseen obstacles.
• Creative thinker and problem solver, able to distill complex problems down to actionable items with sustainable solutions.
• Above average verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• 10+ years of experience in a design engineering environment.
• 10+ years of experience in an engineering or technical environment.
• Experience leading a team of high-performance employees.
