About the position

Newport, an Ascensus company, is seeking a dedicated professional to take on the critical role of project management and onboarding of new conversions and implementations onto the Newport platform. This position is essential for ensuring that plan sponsors, advisors, and internal Newport teams can successfully onboard client plans onto the Newport platform. The successful candidate will serve as the primary point of contact, facilitating communication and collaboration among all stakeholders involved in the onboarding process. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, creating, and executing efficient project timelines and client-facing deliverables. You will work closely with plan sponsors, internal and external consultants, and prior service providers to ensure the successful conversion of plan data, assets, and liabilities. Regularly scheduled weekly checkpoint calls with clients and external partners will be a key part of your responsibilities, providing project status updates and discussing any open items that need attention. You will also maintain and organize client meeting materials, including agendas, minutes, and timelines, while ensuring a thorough understanding of legal plan documents and the implementation process. Your ability to translate client requests into actionable tasks will be crucial. Additionally, you will research and understand the client onboarding process, plan setup, and project documentation needs, working closely with cross-functional support teams to resolve any system setup and configuration issues. Your role will require you to take ownership of client questions and issues, utilizing available internal and external resources to facilitate resolutions. You will prepare client data using advanced Excel formulas and tools, ensuring completeness and accuracy to meet compliance with contractual requirements and client expectations. Furthermore, you will develop accurate and detailed administration manuals outlining processes and procedures related to each project or case, providing post-implementation assistance as needed. Managing multiple case assignments and adapting to changing priorities will be essential, as will consistently meeting or exceeding performance expectations in a fast-paced, demanding environment. You will be expected to focus on learning in everyday activities and collaborate openly with colleagues to share knowledge and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Work with plan sponsors, internal/external consultants, and prior service providers to successfully convert plan data, assets, and liabilities.
  • Schedule and lead weekly checkpoint calls with clients and external partners to provide project status updates and discuss open items.
  • Maintain and organize client meeting materials such as agendas, minutes, and timelines.
  • Understand legal plan documents and the implementation process, translating client requests into actionable tasks.
  • Research and understand the client onboarding process, plan setup, and project documentation needs.
  • Work closely with cross-functional support teams to resolve system setup and configuration issues.

  • Consistently meet and/or exceed performance expectations while working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 5 - 7 years in the retirement plan industry.
  • Knowledge of non-qualified deferred compensation plans is a plus, as well as an understanding of various retirement plans, market operations, and general retirement plan practices.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of implementation and conversions of retirement plans.
