About the position

The NS&E Central SQL Database Administration Support role at Bechtel Corporation involves the day-to-day administration and maintenance of databases and applications. The position is crucial for ensuring database availability, performance, and security. The role includes performing installations, backups, recovery, and providing user support, while collaborating closely with managers to address database capabilities and issues.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day administration and maintenance of databases and applications with guidance from senior DBAs.
• Assist with database and middleware performance tuning.
• Perform installations, patching, code migration, backup, and recovery.
• Provide user support actions such as changing passwords and troubleshooting simple issues.
• Monitor service requests, ServiceNow tickets, and other database management tools for health checks.
• Work closely with managers regarding database and application problems and capabilities.
• Independently perform installations, upgrades, and patching with less help from senior DBAs.
• Provide user support for more complex issues and assist application support teams in troubleshooting integration problems.
• Assist other DBAs and infrastructure teams on OS, database, network, cloud, and security issues.
• Independently manage service request updates and health check resolutions.

Requirements

• University hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience for Level 1.
• Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience for Level 2.
• Knowledge of building, installing, and supporting MS SQL Server environments.
• Experience with regular system patching including OS, database, and application framework.
• Knowledge of PowerShell scripting or other scripting languages for automation.
• Understanding of best practices in IT operations for high availability services.
• Ability to multi-task and work independently in high-pressure environments.
• Experience in Microsoft SQL database and SSRS/Power BI, including backups, security, tuning, and query analysis.
• Experience in monitoring systems and developing improvements.
