About the position

NTP-LV is seeking applicants for the position of Safety Engineer. Potential candidates must have a positive recommendation from their Supervisor, Department Manager, and General Manager (if applicable) as well as the following basic qualifications: Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate a culture of safety awareness & housekeeping stewardship
• Provide support/resources to operations, maintenance and engineering for the implementation of safety and ergonomic improvements
• Understand, implement and communicate federal, state and local OSHA regulations
• Develop, organize and deliver safety training
• Review, develop and implement safety policies and procedures
• Maintain safety (OSHA 300 logs) and environmental records
• Interaction with regulatory agencies
• Ability to travel to other Nucor locations

Requirements

• Experience working with federal/state safety regulations and laws
• At least two years of experience working in an industrial environment applying safety policies and development of safety and loss prevention programs
• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering or related experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or environmental engineering
• Experience with safety management systems and / or OSHA VPP
• Knowledge of Safety, Quality or Environmental Management Systems
• Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, ANSI, IBIH and other regulatory standards, protocols and compliance in order to create policies and procedures
• Current First Aid/CPR Certification
