About the position

The University of Rochester is seeking a part-time Nuclear Cardiology Technologist to perform nuclear cardiology studies, ensuring patient care and safety while adhering to radiation safety measures. This role involves technical skills in acquiring and processing images, maintaining radiopharmacy, and documenting patient studies. The technologist will work collaboratively within a team to provide high-quality patient care and support the goals of the Nuclear Cardiology department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Nuclear Cardiology studies, including SPECT, SPECT/CT, and PET/CT.
  • Exercise complex skill, judgment, and knowledge of Nuclear Cardiology principles and methods.
  • Provide patient care, ensuring comfort and safety during and after exams.
  • Evaluate and address patient needs, obtaining medical assistance when necessary.
  • Acquire and process images, performing quality control on cameras and dose calibrator.
  • Maintain the radiopharmacy and document patient studies in the daily log and patient schedule board.
  • Archive patient studies and document quality control results according to laboratory guidelines.
  • Order radiopharmaceuticals and assist in updating methodologies and laboratory procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nuclear Medicine from an accredited program required.
  • Experience in Nuclear Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • New York State License in nuclear medicine or a 6-month temporary license required.
  • Certificate in Nuclear Medicine Technology from an approved program preferred.
