About the position

The Nuclear I&C Systems Engineer at Paragon Energy Solutions LLC will be responsible for supporting the development of control, monitoring, and safety systems for nuclear power plants. This role involves leading projects focused on instrumentation and control systems, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead instrumentation and control (I&C) projects focusing on engineering, analysis, and documentation for nuclear reactors.
  • Lead the interdisciplinary design team for the project duration and partner with customers to meet contract requirements.
  • Develop system requirements for the I&C system and map system architecture to contract requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of nuclear power generating stations to guide customers in reactor system designs.
  • Prepare system-level documentation, including failure modes and effects analysis, reliability calculations, and system architecture drawings.
  • Prepare/re-design documentation such as hardware requirements, design specifications, drawings, and test procedures.
  • Manage and drive project cost and schedule in conjunction with the Project Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Systems Architect or System Design Lead for large complex system designs.
  • Experience with nuclear safety-related I&C system development projects, including equipment qualification and system implementation.
  • Experience working within a nuclear quality program or other regulated environment.
  • Technical experience in design and analysis with small modular reactors or high-temperature gas reactors is desirable.
  • Proven ability to create positive change and respond rapidly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and accuracy in work.
  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, MS Project).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with small modular reactors, high-temperature gas reactors, or research and test reactors.
  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink.
