About the position

The Nuclear I&C Systems Engineer at Paragon Energy Solutions will play a crucial role in the development of control, monitoring, and safety systems for nuclear power plants. This position involves leading interdisciplinary design teams, managing project costs and schedules, and ensuring that all engineering and documentation requirements are met for both operating and new nuclear reactors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead instrumentation and control (I&C) projects focusing on engineering, analysis, and documentation for nuclear reactors.
  • Lead the interdisciplinary design team throughout the project duration and collaborate with customers to meet contract requirements.
  • Develop system requirements for the I&C system and align the system architecture with contract specifications.
  • Apply knowledge of nuclear power generating stations to guide customers in their reactor system designs.
  • Prepare system-level documentation, including failure modes and effects analysis, reliability calculations, and system architecture drawings.
  • Prepare and review design documentation such as hardware requirements, design specifications, drawings, and test procedures.
  • Manage and drive project cost and schedule in collaboration with the Project Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Systems Architect or System Design Lead for large complex system designs.
  • Experience with nuclear safety-related I&C system development projects, including equipment qualification and system implementation.
  • Experience working within a nuclear quality program or other regulated environments.
  • Technical experience and knowledge in design and technical analysis with small modular reactors or high-temperature gas reactors.
  • Proven ability to create positive change and respond rapidly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, MS Project).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with small modular reactors, high-temperature gas reactors, or research and test reactors.
