About the position

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering Team that is focused on the carbon-free technologies such as Small Modular Reactors. The Mechanical Engineer functions in a mid-level engineering capacity and performs all aspects of conventional and nuclear design engineering. This position requires an individual with a strong aptitude for practical engineering, a willingness to immerse oneself in the role, and the ability to rapidly learn the business. The ideal candidate will be able to work with minimal supervision, possess strong leadership skills, and be willing to travel periodically as needed. Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of conventional and nuclear design engineering.
  • Work with minimal supervision on engineering tasks.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to drive project success.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of carbon-free technologies such as Small Modular Reactors.
  • Lead engineering projects and mentor junior engineers as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Mid-level engineering experience in nuclear or conventional design engineering.
  • Strong aptitude for practical engineering and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Strong leadership skills and willingness to mentor others.
  • Willingness to travel periodically for project needs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Small Modular Reactors or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with nuclear safety standards and regulations.
  • Previous experience in project management or team leadership.
