About the position
The Nuclear Mechanical Inspector (Ships) Leader will oversee the safety and operational capabilities of nuclear reactor plant systems at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. This role involves leading a team of inspectors, ensuring compliance with quality control procedures, and mentoring staff with varying levels of expertise in nuclear safety and operations.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and operational capabilities of nuclear reactor plant systems.
- Oversee quality control procedures and inspection processes.
- Lead and mentor a team of inspectors in safety and operations.
- Utilize knowledge of receipt inspection procedures and techniques.
- Document inspection performance and deficiencies.
- Conduct mechanical, piping, and structural inspections using specialized measuring devices.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Experience in leading or supervising inspection processes.
- Knowledge of nuclear material control and inspection techniques.
- Ability to perform weld joint inspections and nondestructive tests (NDT).
- Familiarity with special measuring and inspection devices.
