About the position

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist at TriStar Summit Medical Center is responsible for performing general nuclear medicine and PET CT exams, ensuring high-quality patient care and image quality. This role involves handling radioactive isotopes, providing radiation safety support, and maintaining accurate patient records while adhering to safety protocols and facility values.

Responsibilities

• Perform nuclear medicine exams following protocols and in a timely manner, ensuring a high quality of care.
• Receive, calibrate, log, administer and monitor the decay of radioactive isotopes.
• Provide radiation safety support in the event of a radiation incident/spill.
• Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
• Record patients' medical information.
• Coordinate patient flow and check the daily list to ensure all exams are complete.
• Inform the patient about the procedure and answer questions.
• Interact and professionally communicate with co-workers, physicians, patients, and family members.
• Maintain all licenses, certifications, and accreditations required as outlined in Job Qualifications.
• Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
• Prepare education for the patient on discharge instructions.
• Demonstrate the ability to perform technical skills and procedures.
• Be knowledgeable in the handling of radioactive materials.
• Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
• Properly measure radioactive waste and know how to dispose of it properly in accordance with regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine.
• Current registry by CNMT or ARRT (N) is required.
• BLS required.
• PET CT experience preferred.
• On call requirement for this role.
